Strasbourg, Paris, Berlin (11.04.2017): Representatives of the green economy in Germany and France agreed on cross-border cooperation. Starting now, sustainable businesses in the Upper Rhine region have the opportunity to exchange ideas in a networking project.
The French sustainable business association Entreprendre Vert and the German federal association of the green economy UnternehmensGrün e.V., who are both members of Ecopreneur.eu, have jointly started a first cross-border project. Both organisations have already been working together on the European level in Brussels.
Within the project, networking events (so-called “Afterworks”) will be organized in the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau (e.g., Lahr, Kehl, Strasbourg, Schiltigheim, Offenburg). German and French entrepreneurs and interested stakeholders will have the opportunity to hear expert lectures, discuss and exchange ideas on topics such as cross-border mobility, sustainable building and city planning as well as digital media. The events will be held in French and German.
A press conference in Strasbourg on April 11th, 2017 marked the beginning of the networking project. Present were representatives of the Alsatian press, the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau and corporate members of both associations – L’Institut de Recherche et d’Expertise Scientifique (IRES), Gerold Weber GmbH, Michael Jemming, president of Collège National des Architectés Experts auprès des Tribunaux as well as André Buchmann, Gerd Baumer and Frédéric Benhaim of Entreprendre Vert and Juliane Reiber of Ecopreneur.eu/UnternehmensGrün e.V..
André Buchmann: “With this project we aim to promote the direct and professional cooperation of sustainable businesses in Alsace and Baden. A successful and sustainable Europe must be formed by people and not only by institutions. That also means to understand the language of your neighbour, to cooperate and to share your everyday life.”
For the first networking and cooperation event, members of Entreprendre Vert and UnternehmensGrün visited the site of Gerold Weber GmbH, a company specialized on solar and heating operations with a main focus on solar and wood-fired heaters, solar power systems and cogeneration plants. The company has been working with renewable energies for over 20 years.
